Do you ever find you’re putting off washing your hair because you don’t have time to wash and style it all in one go? Or the time you have to dedicate to wash and style your hair is too overwhelming?
This technique is one that has been around for a while, but the term was coined by @curlyfitmom ( The idea is pretty simple. You split up your hair washing routine and your hair styling routine.
At first, I wondered why this would be useful. Wouldn’t you be taking more time this way since you’d now be drying your hair twice? But this comes in handy for a few reasons. If you are someone who is busy all the time and can’t dedicate a long stretch of time just to do your hair. If you are a mom who has to take whatever time she can get to wash and style. If you are someone dealing with anxiety or stress when it comes to your hair, and it all seems too overwhelming, this technique could also help you manage your hair. And also, this technique gives you time to diagnose your hair’s needs before picking your styling products, so you can better learn your hair and give it what it needs to be healthy.
In this video, I walk through my wash now, style later routine, with the help of my 1 year old daughter, the reason this technique is so great for me. I can wash my hair before bed, when she’s asleep and style the next day while she’s napping. It really helps me to manage my time better and make sure I get my scalp clean enough and I can put more time into my styling routine in order to get it right each time.
