I get asked about my hair quite a lot ever since I was a teenager so in today’s video I’m sharing my 8 tips and hair care routine for long, shiny and healthy hair. I know that genetic is one of a factor to have long, shiny and healthy hair. However, I am a big believer in doing daily maintenance to accumulate the benefit that we want for long, shiny and healthy hair.
Here are my 8 tips for daily hair care routine.
Please let me know in the comments below if you have hair care tips that works for you. I’d love to learn from you as well.
My Tips #1 for long, shiny and healthy hair is I wash my hair only 2 or 3 times a week. Overtime I condition my hair to be able to go longer without washing so often. I use conditioners only at the ends of my hair. However, I wash my bangs on a daily basis in a sink to prevent acne on my skin.
My Tips #2 for long, shiny and healthy hair is I use fast speed hair dryer to cut drying time and exposing my hair to heat.
My hair is quite thick and long so if I use a regular hair dryer, it can take me up to an hour to dry it. Heat is not good for healthy and shiny hair. I also don’t use curling iron or hair straightener because excessive heat can be damaging. Also to save time, I prefer to keep it simple for my beauty routine.
My Tips #3 for long, shiny and healthy hair is I brush my hair from scalp to ends twice a day with a bamboo brush. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial. Brushing my scalp feels really therapeutic for me and stimulates healthy scalp and distribute the natural oils through the ends.
My Tips #4 for long, shiny and healthy hair is I read the ingredients of my shampoo. Most of the time I buy my shampoo from Whole Foods and for the longest time I used Trader Joe’s Tea Tree shampoo. I avoid shampoo that contains SLS and any hormone disrupting ingredients.
This book “The Woman Code” by Alisa Vitti tells you what products are hormone disrupting. I generally avoid any products that has these ingredients.
On the side note, if you were born with a female body, I highly recommend this book by Alisa Vitti. This book has helped me so much understand my body. Please let me know in the comment below if you have read this book.
My Tips #5 for long, shiny and healthy hair is I use Dr. Bronner’s Citrus Organic Hair Rinse. I love the smell, the ingredients and the benefit of this product on my hair. This product is hard to find, I got mine from a local coop in Berkeley. However, you can always find it online.
My next tips are in terms of dietary and lifestyle.
I am a big advocate for eating healthy, organic and whole foods and managing my stress level, not only for my hair, but also for my overall wellness.
Tips #6 for long, shiny and healthy hair is to eat healthy fats every day.
Good fats are essential for hair growth and shine. I always eat healthy fats with every meal that I eat from breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner.
My #7 tips for long, shiny and healthy hair is to eat sea vegetables. I
‘ve been eating this Hawaiian spirulina every single day at least in the past 3 years. I’d also eat dulse a few times a week and seaweed whenever I can. I also prefer products with sea salt vs regular salt for the health benefit.
Last, but not least, my #8 tips for long, shiny and health hair is to manage my stress level. We all know how damaging to our health stress can be and stress can also cause hair loss. To manage my stress, I do yoga and meditation every single day. We have an array of yoga and meditation class in our channel for you to follow.
