Purnika Shah is the eldest daughter of former princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Shah and former prince Paras Shah. She is the granddaughter of ex-King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah. She has two younger siblings as well Purnika completed her primary schooling in Nepal itself. She gave SLC(School Leaving Certificate) examination from Kasthamandap Vidyalaya. Later she graduated from UWC, Thailand.
