🌾 My sustainable and Zero Waste Hair Care Routine 🍎 One Year "No Poo" 🌾 Dream #27

Dear Dreamer,

I wash my hair only once a week. With rye flour and apple cider vinegar.
Two years ago that would have been unthinkable. But now after my one-year “no poo” journey things are different. Not perfect, but better.

It is important to me to find sustainable ways to do things in all possible areas of my life.
Now I have a sustainable hair care routine that works for me. Zero waste, natural and I have every product I need already in my kitchen.

I realize that my way is uncommon and not for everyone but if you are interested in exploring alternatives this might be interesting for you.

I hope you enjoy this video.

Here´s to dreams, my friend.
Here’s to dreams.

Love Lexi

My uncommon Hair Care Routine

My „Shampoo“

Ingredients:
Rye Flour (don´t use any other flour)
Mix until you have a sticky dough. Not too fluid, not too firm.

Instructions:
– apply on wet hair
– make sure to use a good amount in all areas
– let it soak for 30 seconds
– rinse it out really firmly (it´s important to get it all out, or your hair will stay sticky once dry)
– repeat one more time (optional but recommended to get all the grease out)

My “Conditioner”

Ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar
Water
Mix a little bit of vinegar with half a liter of water

Instructions:
– put your hair into the apple cider vinegar rinse and let it soak for 1-2 minutes
– pore the mixture over your head
– after another minute rinse it out
– your hair will get smoother and it will be far easier to comb it later

How to make Apple Cider Vinegar
– sterilize your jars
– fill with apple scraps
– fill up with water
– add one spoonful of sugar (helps to start the fermentation process)
– cover it with a cloth and put it somewhere dark but warm (it needs air, so don´t close it with a lid)
– stir daily to prevent mold
– after a week little bubbles will appear
– strain through a cloth after 3-4 weeks
– cover with another cloth and let it sit for another 3-6 weeks in a dark place (no need to stir)
– bottle it in sterile jars (open the lid after a couple of days to see if the fermentation has ended, if it hasn´t there will be pressure on the lid and it will make a sound when you open it. If that is the case it´s best to open the lid occasionally so the jar won´t explode 🙈)
– store it in a dark and cool place (mine is still good after a year)
– you can use it for your hair or meals

My “Dry Shampoo”

Take an old jar and punch some holes into the lid.
Fill it with flour of your choice (I use rye flour (whole grain) because it is a little darker than white flour so my hair does not look too gray after using it)

Instructions:
– apply the flour to the grease areas on your scalp
– after 1-2 minutes shake out the flour with your fingers
– comb out the rest
– I do this on day 3 and 5. After that, there is too much flour and grease in my hair so it is best to wash it.
