AIO? Got Called Disgusting by My Teacher and Fellow Classmates 😒 Reddit Stories

Two days ago, my classmates and I were talking about shower routines. I mentioned how I haven’t found a shampoo that doesn’t make my hair bone dry and frizzy. I also said that I just wash my hair with water on most days, without shampoo. This was in front of my teacher, and no one seemed to care at the time.

Today, we were in class, and my teacher started the lecture by talking about how we all need to be presentable. Then, she glanced at me and said, “I was listening to some of you guys, and one of you—” she looked directly at me “—doesn’t wash their hair every day. That is unacceptable and disgusting. It’s dirty, and I expect you all to have good hygiene.” After that, my classmates started agreeing with her, saying it was gross and unbelievable that someone in our program wouldn’t wash their hair every day.

I felt humiliated. As a child, I struggled with hygiene due to neglect; no one ever taught me how to care for myself properly. I was bullied a lot for it growing up, and today’s incident triggered all of those memories. I managed to hold back my tears and act normal, but inside, I was breaking. The comments brought back painful flashbacks of being neglected and ridiculed.

Now, I can’t stop thinking about what happened. I feel disgusting and ashamed, even though I know it’s not wrong to have a different routine. I just wish people understood how deeply this affected me.
