Sun exposure is one of the main causes of skin aging. Prolonged and repeated exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun accelerates the skin’s natural aging process, causing wrinkles, age spots, and a leathery appearance. Sun exposure also increases the risk of developing skin cancer. The best way to reduce the effects of sun exposure is to protect yourself by covering up with clothing, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, and applying sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. It’s also important to avoid direct sun exposure during the peak hours of 10am-4pm, when the sun’s rays are strongest.
