TOP THINGS I DID TO REPAIR MY HAIR:
1. learned that the first place to focus when wanting to repair damaged / broken hair is your scalp! Scalp health = hair health. It determines the health and condition of your hair! Just taking care of your ends won’t repair damage. Removing buildup from your scalp, stimulating it’s hair follicles, increasing blood circulation, balancing pH levels, keeping scalp hydrated and avoiding flakiness, etc. ALL promote a healthy scalp.
2. Protecting your hair from damage is key to helping it grow strong and healthy. Most people think that you really only damage your hair from heat, but that’s not true! You can damage your hair from certain hairstyles, sleeping on rough fabrics at night, using the wrong products, etc,. I switched to sleeping on silk pillowcases and using silk bonnets nightly, only drying my hair with microfiber hair towel wraps, using non-damaging hair ties, learned how to do heatless curls & maintain styles overnight, and so much more.
3. Incorporating weekly hair oil masks into my weekly routine was life changing for me! Oil masks help promote healthy hair growth, a healthy scalp, stronger hair and hair follicles, & give you that frizz-free silky shine.
4. Finding the right products to use on my scalp and ends was so important! You should be using a shampoo that fits the needs of your scalp, and a conditioner that fits the needs of your ends / bottom half of hair! If your scalp is naturally really oily, you want to find a shampoo that cleanses and removes oil while still keeping it hydrated. If your ends are really dry, you will want to find a conditioner that will deeply hydrate + condition them. Also finding the right leave-in conditioner will make all the difference for the bottom half of your hair and avoiding future breakage.
