I get it… finding all-natural, organic, vegan, cruelty-free, low-impact and zero waste products that are made with ethically sourced ingredients, and come in compostable or zero-waste packaging is HARD… which is why I was so happy that I stumbled upon Jhanneu’s minimal and sustainable body / skincare routine on her YouTube channel.
If you’ve been a subscriber for a while now, you know how fascinated I am with different people’s daily routines (and, on a smaller scale, their skincare and body care routines). So that’s why I wanted to LEARN FROM the BEST and try out an expert, zero-waste blogger’s low-impact body care routine.
Jhanneu is a YouTuber who focuses on low-impact, intentional living. When I found her channel, I was amazed by all of the incredible value she offers. In this video of hers ( she dives into how she keeps her skin soft, clean and smelling good, all while using only zero-waste and plastic-free products. Her sustainable body care essentials for her minimal skincare routine are now staples in my bathroom!

The first step to her routine is exfoliating, which she does once a week. She used a sustainable coffee scrub from UpCircle, but since I wanted to try being 100% zero waste, I made my own DIY body scrub and my own DIY face scrub.
INGREDIENTS:
Lucie’s DIY body scrub: coconut oil, coffee grounds & a bit of water
Lucie’s DIY face scrub: organic lemon juice, sugar & raw honey
Next is her shaving regimen, which she uses a metal razor for. I personally own a stainless steel razor and it’s been such a great investment for me. It’s great for the environment because you don’t have to swap out those plastic heads, and the razor blade replacements are very inexpensive (you can get almost 100 for about $6 — linked above!).
For moisturizer, I tried something new…coconut oil! I used to use sesame oil since I’m a VATA body type in ayurveda… but coconut oil is cooling for summer and it’s a great multi-purpose, sustainable product that made my skin feel more nourished and moisturized than ever before. Plus, I got mine in a glass bottle on Thrive.
Both of us use the same deodorant. It’s the one I showed you in my All The Sustainable Products I Use In A Day video (it’s from Meow Meow Tweet). This deodorant is great since it comes in a glass jar, and all you do is just take a little scoop of it with your fingers and wipe in under your armpits. It turns into cream and has a great texture. Her last step is a spritz of perfume from Clean Reserve – it’s all-natural and sustainable. I used their Radiant Nectar scent.
While finding sustainable, zero-waste products can be difficult, there are some great ones out there and I hope this video inspires you to make some sustainable body care swap-outs!
